In 2012, TC Wilson, who had served as the President of one of the local recreational basketball league organized Hanover Havocs starting with a combination of 4th and 5th graders. He wanted to start building a foundation of girls that possessed a high level of interest and ability in basketball. 100% of our team (7 of 7 players) made their middle school teams as 6th graders and one 5th grader made her middle school team (private school). The next year, all of the players returned for a 6th grade Havoc team and we also started a 4th/5th grade team as the “next level” of Hanover Havoc Girls. I took on the coaching responsibilities along with Paul Baitinger, Jeff Campbell and Jennifer Elkins. 100% (10 of 10 players) of the girls on the 4th/5th grade team that year made their middle school team in 6th grade. High school coaches have taken notice. With the help of Coach Rebecca Paramore and Coach Brandon Mayhew, we have also added a High School Havoc team. Havoc now consists of High School aged teams, a 8th, 7th, 6th and 5th grade team. We will add a 4th grade team in the winter as well.
Hanover Havoc is more than just a basketball team, we are a family. Our kids best friends are not always ones they go to school with, or grew up with, but the ones they sweat and fight with every week on the basketball court to get better. These girls participate together in outings, community service, and other events outside of the basketball court that brings these girls closer together and creates more than just a basketball player. We want to develop well-rounded people, not just players. Havoc emphasizes strong character (off-the-court and on-the-court), skill development, team building, team strategies, and offers an organization of passionate volunteer coaches and an affordable price for girls to develop and improve their game.
